PAC condemns acts of violence ahead of polls

By Lauryn M’banga

Public Affairs Committee (PAC), a quasi-religious body, has condemned the recent acts of violence describing them as a threat to the forthcoming general elections.

In a statement, PAC chairperson Monsignor Patrick Thawale, has cited the recent incident in Chikwawa where some people allegedly removed Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) flags during President Lazarus Chakwera’s visit.

Thawale also cited the alleged harassment of DPP members in Lilongwe earlier this year and an incident whereby the presidential convoy was stopped in Blantyre.

The quasi-religious body has since urged political parties to restrain from retaliation to allow the enforcement agencies to bring perpetrators to book.
