Police in Lilongwe have apprehended 24-year-old Manuel Mazoni, an ex-convict, for a daring burglary and theft at an Indian national’s residence in Area 9.

The goods, valued at K14 million, were stolen on the night of December 27, 2024.

Authorities have also arrested two other individuals for receiving and selling the stolen property, though their names remain undisclosed.

“Mazoni allegedly broke into the home of Harpal Singh, an employee of the Indian High Commission, stealing high-value items including two iPhones, a laptop, an Apple iPad, a Samsung phone, a Bluetooth speaker, and wallets containing a total of K600,000 in cash,” said inspector Hastings Chigalu of Lilongwe Police Station.
