Edith Kachale Banda, the Managing Director of the Joyce Banda Foundation International and Shadow Member of Parliament for Zomba-Malosa Constituency, has called for collective efforts to support those affected by Cyclone Freddy and the ongoing hunger crisis in Malawi.
Kachale Banda made the remarks on Thursday while overseeing the distribution of houses to one boy and two women, as well as providing maize to 225 households in the constituency.
She also revealed that the foundation has built 51 houses in the districts of Zomba, Mangochi, and Mulanje for Cyclone Freddy victims.
Timveka Mikithayo, a Form 3 student at Mulunguzi Secondary School, expressed his gratitude to the foundation. He shared that he had been living in a dilapidated house, which posed a serious threat to his safety and well-being.
In addition, Kachale Banda presided over the opening of the Tiwi Footbridge in the constituency, further underscoring her commitment to community development.
