Analyst expects Chakwera to tackle economic hardships in national address

Renowned social commentator Lucky Mbewe expects President Lazarus Chakwera to outline effective measures to ease the country’s ongoing economic hardships in his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Friday.

Chakwera is set to open the 51st session of Parliament on February 14, 2025, delivering what will be his final address before the September elections.

The session will also mark the beginning of the 2025/2026 budget meeting, which will run until April 11, 2025.

Speaking to YFM on Monday, Mbewe noted that economic conditions have worsened over the past four years under Chakwera’s leadership.

He emphasized that this is a crucial moment for the president to implement meaningful changes to improve the country’s situation.
