Political scientist Chimwemwe Tsitsi has cast doubt on the effectiveness of ministers’ public engagement meetings aimed at clarifying the President Lazarus Chakwera’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Tsitsi was responding to an announcement by Secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet, Collen Zamba, stating that cabinet ministers would engage stakeholders to address alleged misrepresentations in President Chakwera’s speech last Friday.
On February 14, President Chakwera opened the 51st Parliamentary session with a state of the nation address, which has since faced criticism from various sectors.
Many argue that the information and data presented do not accurately reflect the country’s current situation.
Speaking to YFM, Tsitsi emphasized that this situation should serve as a wake-up call for the government to improve its communication strategy and take accountability for its actions.
